Flippers to Fins Scuba Academy Courses
We are proud to offer courses from Beginner, to Intermediate, all the way to Leadership courses.
All lectures are done at our premises in Midrand.
Course times are always flexible to suit students needs and requirements, and we are willing to do your course in the comfort of your home for groups.
Many of our competitors will offer dive courses at prices lower than ours, but more often than not you will find that when you arrive on the first night of your course, you need to purchase gear, or books or have to pay for air fills or for use of the swimming pool etc, and normally you'll only find this out once you've paid your deposit... NOT WITH US!
Our course prices are all inclusive of registration, C-Card, course materials, air fills for the duration of your course and gear hire where specified. We have no hidden costs, what you see is what you pay for your dive course, NO MORE!
All our certifications are Internationally recognised and you can use your qualification anywhere in the world, watch out for the fly by nights!!!
We offer the following courses:

SCUBA Diver
This is your entry level dive course that will allow you to dive to a maximum depth of 18m once successfully completed.
You need to be at least 10 years of age to qualify for the course and "senior/adult" certifications can be obtained from the age
of 15.
Included in the course price:
- Course materials and dive tables
- Log Book
- Theory and pool sessions
- Full gear hire for the duration of the course
- DAN medical cover for 6 weeks
- Registration
- C-Card
Excluded from the course price:
- Entrance to Miracle Waters @ R60 per day
Course Duration:
- 2 weeks part time
- 4 days full time

Advanced Diver Course
Once you have completed you Scuba Certification you qualify to enter the Advanced Diver Course. This course will teach you the necessary skills that will allow you to dive to 40m, dive at night, and it'll teach you underwater navigation with a compass and light salvage, lifting goods from below the water using lift bags.
Included in the course price:
- Air fills
- Use of Torch for the night dive
- Cylum stick for night dive
- Use of Compass
- Use of lift bag

Nitrox Diver
This course teaches the necessary theoretical and practical skills to allow successful candidates to dive with Enriched Air.
Not only does diving on Nitrox reduce your Surface Interval Times and extend dive times, but when you dive with enriched air you feel so much better after the dive and it greatly reduces post dive fatigue.
This is truly a fascinating and interesting course to take, and Nitrogen ingassing, ofgassing and the risks of DCS will make so much more sense after completing this course.

- Entrance to Bass Lake/dive trip to a destination that offers Nitrox fills

Rescue Diver and Emergency First Responder
Before you progress any further in diving, you need to complete a Rescue and EFR course. This will not only teach you the skills to deal with an underwater and surface emergency, it will also teach you self rescue and make YOU a more competent diver. Once you have the diver that was in need of rescue out of the water safely, this course also teaches you the First Aid skills required to deal with an inured diver.
Included in the course price:
- Course Materials
- Pool sessions
- Air fills
- All rescue equipment required for the course
- Registration and C-Card
Excluded from the course price:
- Gear rental

Master Diver
Once Rescue qualified, you can enter the Master Diver programme. This is a fantastic course for the dive enthusiast who wants to know more. The course teaches in depth theory about Scuba Diving and once you've successfully completed this course you will almost know all there is to know about diving and the history of it.
You will understand your gear better and have in depth knowledge about ingassing, recompression etc.

Dive Master
This is when you enter the Leadership level of diving. With this qualification you can actually go and get a diving job at a dive school, dive resort, live aboard boat or dive charter companies all over the world.
Become a Dive Master and become more involved with your dive club organising and conducting diving activities.

- Theoretical training
- Pool training
- Air fills
Excluded from the course price:
- Registration and annual fees
- Gear rental
- Entrance to Miracle Waters
- Dive trips to the coast to lead dives in the ocean (prices will be greatly reduced for candidates)
